What is SightProtectTM?

SightProtect is a new safety program brought to you by Essilor. The program has been specifically designed to meet the needs and demands of today’s employees by offering an expanded provider network, exclusive lens technology like Varilux®, Crizal®, Transitions®, and Optifog®, and patient-preferred safety-frame brands such as Oakley® and Wiley X®.

What do my SightProtect benefits cover?

SightProtect benefits may vary. Check with your human resources department or log in to member web to view your benefit summary. 


How do I use my SightProtect benefits?

Using your SightProtect benefits at an in-network provider is easy:



  1. Find an in-network eye doctor by visiting EyeMed.com/SightProtect.

  2. Click the link to “Find an Eye Doctor.”

  3. Schedule an appointment. Tip: With many providers, you can do it online!

  4. Tell the provider you have SightProtect at the time of your appointment.



The provider’s staff will do the rest! You will only pay for any fees indicated. Your provider will supply you with these amounts. 


How do I log in to Member Web to view my SightProtect benefits?


  1. Go to Member Web.

  2. Click “SIGN IN” or “Need to register?”

  3. To register, you can enter your first name, last name, date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY), and member ID.

How do I find my Member ID?

How do I find a provider who accepts SightProtect?

Visit our SightProtect provider locator and search for an in-network provider near you, or call our customer care center at 866-798-9192 and use our automated voice response system to speak with a representative.


Will the providers offer evening and weekend hours?

Yes, some providers in the network feature evening and weekend hours, including Sundays. Please verify with the particular provider location before visiting to ensure available days and times. 


What frames and lenses are part of the SightProtect program?

Frame and lens options may vary depending on benefits chosen by your employer. Check with your employer or human resources department or log in to Member Web to view your benefit summary or call 866-798-9192.


Will there be frames available at the eyecare providers’ offices?

Yes, each office will have a kit of frames. Kit samples will vary depending on the location you visit.


Can I preview frames anywhere before I go into the provider’s office?

Yes, each provider's frame collection can be viewed on EyeMed.com/SightProtect

  3. Access the frame catalogs sorted by provider on this page.


What if a frame has been discontinued?

You will be notified via your provider if a frame is backordered or unavailable. If this occurs, you will need to select an alternative frame. 


If I’m not on the EyeMed network, how can I receive access to their system?


  1. Go to Member Web.

  3. To register, you can enter your first name, last name, date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY), and member ID.

How do I get an ID card or extra cards?

How do I submit a reimbursement claim?

When you visit one of our in-network SightProtect eye doctors, you won’t have to. We take care of all the paperwork. 


Is there an exam reimbursement?

Exams are not part of the SightProtect program. You will need to use your standard vision plan.


How do I check the status of a claim?

If you visited an in-network SightProtect eye doctor, you don’t need to. We work with the provider directly. 


How are payments handled?

The provider will collect payment at time of service for any out-of-pocket charges that are not covered by your employer/benefit. 


What is the warranty on your safety glasses?

Contact your HR representative for information regarding the warranty policy on our safety eyewear.


How are warranty claims handled?

Providers will handle all warranty and remake claims. You should consult the original office where you purchased your safety prescription glasses.


Can I apply FSA funds to out-of-pocket costs after my SightProtect benefits are applied?

Yes. You can use your flexible spending account (FSA) to pay for a variety of health-related out-of-pocket expenses, including those associated with ancillary services and materials. Money from the FSA can be applied toward the eye exam copay, out-of-pocket costs for prescription glasses, or contact lenses (including upgrades), and supplies such as contact lens solution. You can even use FSA funds for LASIK surgery.

What is SightProtect?

SightProtect by Essilor brings prescription safety eyewear programs into the modern era through online management of employees, benefits, and ordering via the EyeMed systems. This modernization opens up the program to real-time alignment of an expanded network of providers (including retail locations), improved consistency of products and frames, and fewer manual processes for the employer and employee needed to obtain quality prescription safety eyewear in a timely manner. It also provides employers visibility regarding employee usage of the program.


How is SightProtect different from previous Essilor safety programs?

SightProtect simplifies and streamlines the entire safety eyewear process. It does this by leveraging EyeMed’s existing infrastructure through EyeMed’s online claims system, eliminating the need for paper authorization forms and manual tracking of eligibility. The online provider locator and frame catalogs are available by network.  


Is SightProtect replacing the existing Essilor prescription safety eyewear program?

Over time, SightProtect will replace the current Essilor prescription safety eyewear program. We will work to transition clients into SightProtect beginning in July to start leveraging the new program on September 1, 2021.  


What is the official launch date for the SightProtect program?

September 1, 2021 is the official launch date for the program. 


What tool(s) will be available to help me administer the program?

EyeMed's online claims system will be used to administer SightProtect benefits. If you are not familiar with EyeMed's online claims system, please refer to our online claims system job aid. What frames and lenses are part of the SightProtect program?

SightProtect will feature frames from well-known prescription safety eyewear manufacturers such as FGX/Guardian®, ArmouRX®, Hilco/OnGuard, Wiley X®, and Oakley®. Lens products and coating options will vary by lab network but will include Varilux® lenses, Transitions® lenses, and other nationally known brands.


How do my employees use their SightProtect benefits?

Using SightProtect benefits at an in-network provider is easy:



  1. Employees can find an in-network eye doctor by visiting EyeMed.com/SightProtect.

  2. Then they can click the link to “Find an Eye Doctor.”

  3. Next, they schedule an appointment. Tip: With many providers, scheduling can be done online!

  4. At the time of their appointment, your employee will tell the provider they have SightProtect.


The provider’s staff will do the rest! You will only be billed for the products you have agreed to cover. Any upgrades will be handled at the time of purchase by the employee with the provider.


What do my employees’ SightProtect benefits cover?

SightProtect benefits will depend on the product option(s) you chose with the help of your Essilor account executive. Refer to the file you and your rep completed to see what product group(s) you selected and their costs.


Do I pay Essilor or EyeMed for the program charges?

All payments will be paid to EyeMed for processing. You may need to establish EyeMed as a new vendor in your AP system.


Can I pay my bill online?

Yes, the EyeManage tool features an online bill payment portal.


What forms of payment are accepted?

Credit cards (after 11/1), ACH bank-to-bank transfers, and checks.


What are the Payment Terms?

Net 30 day terms.


Can my employees apply FSA funds to out-of-pocket costs after their SightProtect benefits are applied?

Use the EyeManage portal for viewing your group benefits. The link is provided when access is granted. Please bookmark this link when you receive it.


How do I find my member ID?

What if a frame has been discontinued?

The provider will be notified via the EyeMed system as to the availability of frame products. If a selected frame is on backorder or unavailable, the provider will be able to adjust and have your employee select a new frame on the spot.


Who do I contact if I have questions regarding SightProtect?

Please refer to your “Who to Call for What” guide provided by your SightProtect account executive for specific scenarios.


If I’m not on the EyeMed network, how will I receive access to their system?

After you complete your SightProtect contract, EyeMed will set up your user ID for the online claims system and make sure you and your staff receive the training you need to use the system.


Where do I find a copy of my pricing?

Your pricing will be in your contract and also available from your Essilor account executive.


Where can I find my contract and fee schedule?

Your contract will be sent to you via email by your Essilor account executive. Please return your signed copy to them to be countersigned and fully executed.


Can I select multiple products?

We can establish subgroups of products for employees who need them or who are allowed options that the “main group” may not have. For example, electricians are required to have non-conductive eyewear; that subgroup can be created so that only they have access to non-conductive frames. All groups and subgroups need to be managed by the system and employees assigned to them accordingly.


How do I add a new hire?

The EyeManage tool has a feature that allows you to enter single employees any time you need to. Simply follow the prompts on the Add New Subscriber section to add a new employee.


How do I remove an employee who was terminated/retired?

EyeManage allows you to look up any employee by name and edit their term date. The system will not allow any employee with a current or past term date to use the program.


How do I edit an employee record (rehired, etc.)?

Tutorial instructions will be provided in your welcome packet on how to edit employees. Through EyeManage, please use the reference tool "Modify or Term Coverage."


How do I handle mass hires/terminations?

This will be handled via the same process as loading original membership. Please contact your Essilor account executive for process details to ensure accuracy in the file formatting prior to loading.


Can I add employees to the system as they come to me to request new safety glasses?

Yes, EyeManage allows for single employees to be added as hired on or as needed for obtaining safety glasses if required. They will be eligible for safety benefits based on the eligibility date you assign them when entering them into the system.


How do I reinstate employee eligibility?

Please visit the EyeManage portal to maintain or reinstate employees.


Do my employees need to be issued anything to take advantage of the program?

There is the option to print an ID card and benefits list from the management tool, but otherwise nothing is needed for the employee to use their prescription safety eyewear benefit.

What is SightProtect?

SightProtect is a new, exclusive Essilor safety eyewear offering. SightProtect leverages the infrastructure of EyeMed to administer benefits while providing increased profitability and unique access to members for select providers.


Why is Essilor launching SightProtect?

Essilor has offered a safety eyewear program for a number of years that relies on paper processes. SightProtect lets Essilor reimagine its safety eyewear program by streamlining administration and expanding available products. You’ll use EyeMed’s online claims system to submit orders and receive payment, and a new frame kit will feature higher-quality products, including Oakley® safety frames.


Why should I as a provider participate in SightProtect?

As a participating provider in SightProtect, you’ll be part of an exclusive safety provider network, which will help differentiate your practice in the market. SightProtect also simplifies and streamlines the safety eyewear experience by leveraging EyeMed’s online claims system, reducing time and complexity for your staff.


What is EyeMed’s role in SightProtect?

EyeMed is helping streamline the infrastructure behind SightProtect. Contracting, eyewear ordering, and billing will flow through EyeMed and their wholly owned subsidiary, First American Administrators (FAA), so SightProtect providers can place orders and file claims electronically to reduce paperwork and simplify the safety eyewear process. You’ll also sign your SightProtect contract through EyeMed’s online tools.


When is the official launch date for the SightProtect program?

September 1, 2021 is the official launch date for the program.


How do I participate in SightProtect?

To ensure SightProtect provides the most value to participating ECPs, program participation is based around the geography of clients (employers). As we continue to secure new clients, ECP participation will expand. To learn more, please reach out to sightprotectecp@essilorusa.com.


Where can I find my contract and fee schedule?

The SightProtect provider service agreement will come directly from EyeMed via infocus@eyemed.com if you are a provider already on the EyeMed network. If you are a provider who is not on the EyeMed network, look for an email from contracting@eyemedonline.com. If you have checked your email and junk folder and are unable to locate your contract and fee schedule, please contact sightprotectecp@essilorusa.com.


Is there an exam reimbursement?

There is no exam reimbursement tied to the SightProtect by Essilor program. Exams may be part of other commercial or medical benefits that SightProtect members may have.


What happens if I do not accept the contract and fee schedule?

Providers who do not sign the new contract and fee schedule will not be able to participate in SightProtect.


What if I decide to participate later?

We encourage you to join SightProtect when your contract is available. If you delay and aren’t sure of your current eligibility status, please contact sightprotectecp@essilorusa.com.


How is SightProtect different from previous Essilor safety programs?

SightProtect simplifies and streamlines the entire safety eyewear process. Leveraging EyeMed’s existing infrastructure through EyeMed’s online claims system, SightProtect ensures you have real-time visibility to benefits and inventory and understand how much the patient owes at the time of sale, all while recommending a wide selection of available safety frames.


Is SightProtect replacing the existing Essilor prescription safety eyewear program?

Over time, SightProtect will replace the current Essilor prescription safety eyewear program. We will work to transition clients into SightProtect beginning in July to start leveraging the new program on September 1, 2021.


Is SightProtect replacing the safety eyewear program powered by EyeMed?

No. EyeMed still offers its own safety eyewear program to groups that have EyeMed routine vision benefits. SightProtect is offered by Essilor and is a separate program.


Are all Essilor safety eyewear program members moving to SightProtect on July 1?

No. Client onboarding will be a gradual process. Some eyecare professionals (ECPs) who are current providers with Essilor's existing safety program can remain in that program while also joining SightProtect.


How will I know when members move to SightProtect?

You will know if a member is a SightProtect member by their ID card.


What labs are available through SightProtect?

We have a wide variety of labs available for SightProtect providers to choose from. See our full network of labs.


Do I need to create a new lab account for SightProtect if I’m an existing EyeMed provider and already have an account at one of the available labs for EyeMed?

No, if you already have an EyeMed lab account at one of the participating SightProtect labs, you do not need to create a new lab account. You’re able to use that same lab account number for SightProtect jobs.


If I’m not an existing EyeMed provider, how do I create a lab account for SightProtect?

You can create a new lab account for SightProtect directly in the online claims system after logging in. Please refer to EyeMed’s lab registration job aid for additional details.


Who do I contact if I have questions regarding SightProtect?

Please refer to your Who to Call guide for specific scenarios.


Is there a locator for SightProtect providers? If so, where can I find it?

Yes, all participating eyecare professionals (ECPs) in SightProtect will appear on a locator, helping to ensure members understand which office(s) are part of the SightProtect network. See the provider locator here. 


Why is the contract through EyeMed?

EyeMed is administering the contract on behalf of Essilor to help streamline and simplify the process. Your contract is still with Essilor, and the SightProtect contract does not have any effect on your current agreement or reimbursement for routine vision benefits with EyeMed.


Do SightProtect providers have to be credentialed through EyeMed?

No. Because of the limited nature of services provided to members of SightProtect, you do not need to be credentialed. 


Is this contract an amendment to my existing EyeMed contract?

No. This contract is between you and Essilor. EyeMed is simply using their online tools to administer the contract. It has no effect on the terms of your EyeMed agreement.


How does participation in SightProtect by Essilor impact my EyeMed standing and current agreements with EyeMed?

Participating in SightProtect by Essilor does not impact your current standing with EyeMed, as they are completely different programs. SightProtect is powered by EyeMed’s tools; this does not mean a provider is credentialed with EyeMed.


If I’m not on the EyeMed network today, do I have to join to be part of SightProtect?

No. Your SightProtect contract is with Essilor. Although you’ll use EyeMed’s systems to submit lab orders and receive payments, you will not be contracted or credentialed with EyeMed.


If I’m already on the EyeMed network, do I need to change my login information for the online claims system or go somewhere different for SightProtect claims?

No. If you already use EyeMed’s online claims system for claims, your login information will not change. However, you will follow a slightly different process to submit these transactions. Our how to submit a SightProtect claim job aid can be used for step-by-step instructions.


If I’m not on the EyeMed network, how will I receive access to their system?

After you complete your SightProtect contract, EyeMed will set up your user ID for the online claims system and make sure you and your staff receive the training you need to be ready for SightProtect members.


What tool(s) will be available to help me administer the program?

EyeMed’s online claims system will be used to administer SightProtect benefits. If you are not familiar with EyeMed’s online claims system, please refer to our online claims system job aid.


What are the reimbursements?

Refer to the SightProtect fee schedule included in your contract packet to find the charge back schedule.


How do I receive payment?

Payments will be generated weekly through EyeMed and its subsidiary, First American Administrators (FAA).


How am I notified when I have a new deposit?

When you’re signed up for direct deposit with EyeMed and First American Administrators (FAA), you will receive an email alerting you when a deposit is made. Additionally, a remittance advice (RA) will be available for download through the online claims system. If you are not signed up for direct deposit, you will receive a paper check in the mail with your RA attached.


What is FAA?

First American Administrators (FAA) is a wholly owned subsidiary of EyeMed and a third-party administrator that issues payments for SightProtect transactions.


Will I receive a sample frame kit?

Each participating SightProtect provider will receive a new frame kit containing 45 frames of different styles and price points to meet your patient needs. You will even be able to offer your members Oakley® safety frames. If you have questions regarding your frame kit, please contact sightprotectecp@essilorusa.com.


What frames and lenses are part of the SightProtect program?

SightProtect will feature frames from well-known prescription safety eyewear manufacturers such as FGX/Guardian®, ArmouRX®, Hilco®/OnGuard, Wiley X®, and Oakley®. Industry-leading lens products such as Varilux®, Crizal®, and Transitions® are also available.


Do I have to be an Oakley® authorized dealer to offer Oakley safety frames?

No. Your SightProtect by Essilor contract states that you may offer Oakley safety frames. This does not make you an authorized Oakley dealer. Please reference your contract for additional details and information.


What if a frame has been discontinued?

You’ll be informed that the frame is no longer available within the online claims system.


Are SightProtect jobs lab-supplied frames, or do I need to send in frames from my kit?

All SightProtect jobs are lab-supplied, meaning you don’t need to send in a frame from your frame kit. This is a standard process that won’t impact turnaround time.


What is the warranty on your safety glasses?

Please refer to the SightProtect warranty policy.
